Deputy Sheriff
The Greene County Sheriff’s Office is seeking dedicated applicants for a Deputy Sheriff position responsible for protecting life and property, enforcing local and state laws, responding to emergency calls, investigating crimes and traffic accidents, maintaining school and courtroom security, serving civil process, and engaging with the community through crime prevention and public outreach. Deputies may also participate in specialized assignments such as SWAT, undercover operations, and hostage negotiations. Qualified candidates should have law enforcement training and experience, possess or be able to obtain Virginia law enforcement certification, maintain a valid driver’s license, firearm qualification, and CPR/first aid certification, and demonstrate strong communication, judgment, and public service skills. School Resource Officer
The Greene County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a dedicated School Resource Officer (SRO) to help provide a safe and secure learning environment for students, faculty, and staff. This position serves as a law enforcement officer, mentor, and community partner by maintaining a visible presence on school campuses, responding to incidents, investigating criminal activity, building positive relationships with students, and educating youth on safety and crime prevention. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and problem-solving skills, demonstrate professionalism and sound judgment, and be committed to fostering a positive and secure school environment while working closely with school administrators, parents, and the community. Qualified candidates should have law enforcement training and experience, possess or be able to obtain Virginia law enforcement certification, maintain a valid driver’s license, firearm qualification, and CPR/first aid certification, and demonstrate strong communication, judgment, and public service skills. Animal Control Officer
The Greene County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a dedicated Animal Control Officer to help protect both the community and the welfare of animals throughout Greene County. This position is responsible for enforcing animal control laws and ordinances, responding to calls involving stray, injured, dangerous, and nuisance animals, investigating animal cruelty and bite incidents, educating the public on responsible pet ownership, and working closely with law enforcement, veterinarians, and community partners. The ideal candidate will have experience in animal handling or animal control, strong communication and problem-solving skills, and be able to obtain and maintain Virginia Animal Control Officer certification, firearm certification, and a valid Virginia driver’s license. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about public service, animal welfare, and community safety. Starting Salary $53,716.
